The Reading Room
Blessed are we
Blessed are we who know
that there is more to life than this.
Blessed to know that life goes on
That death does not exist.
Blessed are we who know
That when we leave our mortal form
We still can tend our loved ones
and our love can keep them warm
and we can find new ways to show
our love is always there;
a kiss at night; a flickering light
to show how much we care.
Blessed we’ll be to watch and wait,
free from earthly harms.
We’ll meet our loved ones at the gate
and hold them in our arms.
Blessed are we to know - for sure
we, ever more, will be
in love and light and harmony.
Truly blessed are we.

Bring me the sun
Bring me the sun to warm my path,
The stars to light my way,
The moon to control the tide of my life
To carry me through each day,
Kindness of heart to help my friends
And family as a whole,
Strength of body, peace of mind
And love to fill my soul.

Do not despair
Do not despair - remember
we are here - we always are!
You see us in the smallest raindrop,
in each and every shining star.
You smell us in the scented flowers;
the fresh, clean, green-ness of the trees;
the wind, the snow, the earthy soil;
the salty ever-changing seas.
You feel us in the glow of friendship.
The warm, soft trickling of the sand.
A child’s embrace, a gentle kiss.
A father’s touch, and mother’s hand.
You sense us in the atmosphere
when you’re awake and when you’re sleeping.
You sense our closeness all around you
when you laugh and when you’re weeping.
You know that we will never hurt you.
Know that we are always here.
Know we never will desert you.
Know that we are always near.
We are everything around you.
Earth below and sky above.
You were lost, but we have found you.
We are Spirit.
We are Love.

This poem was written one month before the passing of a very dear friend
The hands are worn
The hands are worn but the heart is warm
and has known such love in so many ways!
The eyes don’t see as they used to see
and yet, in each one, so many memories!
The mind can’t always think so quickly
for when it ‘fogs’ the mist comes thickly,
But oh! What wealth of experience!
How to walk, to run, to dance!
How to play, to laugh, to share.
How to love and how to care.
How to see through another’s eye.
How to grieve and how to cry.
How to learn and how to teach
to stretch for target’s out of reach.
How to take and how to give
and, most important, how to LIVE!
The hands are worn but the heart is warm
and, hidden in this aged form,
frail in body, frail in health
but strong of mind, there is a wealth
of knowledge, of that there’s no doubt..
The sort that you all dream about!
You’ll share it too, one day, you’ll see.
But not till you’re as old as she!

Written for the lady mentioned above
I made a wish for Christmas
I made a wish for Christmas and I’m hoping someone heard
the thoughts I have inside me, for I never spoke a word.
Instead, I opened up my heart and let the feelings through,
in hope that they’d touch him, and her, and them, and me, and you.
I wished for love throughout our World, and peace of heart and mind;
that no one would know loneliness or suffer deeds unkind;
that every man would have a friend and have no need to fight ;
that every one would have a meal and warm bed for the night ;
that no man sat in judgement of another person’s choices;
that all were open-minded and allowed each others voices
to speak of hopes and of beliefs, to shed a little light
on their own thoughts, without the need to prove that they were right.
I made a wish for Christmas and I’m hoping someone saw
the vision deep inside me, and what I am praying for.
I pray that every child knows love and that that love is pure
and that the Heavens up above will finally find a cure
for all the madness in our World with which we cannot cope;
that negative despondency can be replaced with hope,
so everyone within our World can live in harmony
accepting one another in the way it’s meant to be.
I made a wish for Christmas and I hope it touched your hearts,
because, to make my wish come true, here is where it starts,
with you and me and him and her, for I know, come what may,
if we all wish together, then, I know we’ll find a way
to right the wrongs within our World, to let the Light shine through.
I made a wish for Christmas and I pray that wish comes true.

The Man On The Street
The man in the street had no shoes on his feet
and his trousers were well-worn and thin,
but the rain didn’t care as it ran through his hair
and his t-shirt was stuck to his skin.
The street lamp shone gold as the bitterly cold
winds called with their sighs and their moans,
and the man in the street with no shoes on his feet
felt it blew right through his bones.
Not a penny had he for a hot cup of tea,
a warm meal or a bed for the night,
and people rushed by, never casting an eye
at the cold, wet, bedraggled sad sight.
That night the snow fell and he heard the church bell
proclaiming that Christmas had come,
and he wanted to go to the church through the snow,
but his feet and his body were numb.
Then came a bright light that cut through the night
and he wondered just what it could be
when, with barely a sound, warm wings wrapped around
and a gentle voice said, “Come with me.”
Upwards they flew through the sky’s morning blue
over mountains and seas tipped with foam,
and he looked at his form; loved, dressed and warm,
and he smiled for he knew he was home.

What Is Mortality
What is mortality but an address?
When all else fails, my friends, do not distress
yourselves with thoughts of death and dying,
what are they
but an opportunity for you to move away
back to the Source, the place from whence you came
where you are known by Light and not by name
and where your light is brighter and you’ll find
pain and grief are gone and life is kind
and you will see your loved ones, nonetheless.
What is mortality but an address?

How Can Man
How can man, for any cause, use children in his foolish wars
As soldiers, armed with guns and knives, trained to kill, for taking lives?
Soldier children, girls and boys who should be free to play with toys;
To roam in fields, beneath the sun, but live in fear - and use a gun.
How can man, in his God’s name, kill another and feel no shame?
How can he boast about his crime and smile because he won? (This time!)
Slaughter children, with no defence? (Who have no sin - just innocence
And dreams of parties and of play) yet anger blew them all away!
How can man kill his fellow man? He says he can’t change. Yes! He can
Stand up to those whose hearts are sour; who want control; who lust for power.
Yes! He can say “No!” He should, if it is for another’s good!
But that takes courage, so it’s no surprise it’s easier to close his eyes
And play the games his leaders play - fire his gun - and walk away……..

London Bombings
Weep for those who have lost the friends and family they held dear.
Cry for the ones for whom the threat of death and harm came near.
Be sad for the ones who walked away and never shed a tear.
For they are the ones who blindly go wherever their leaders say.
Be proud of those who will not bow their heads and show their fear.
Who staunchly refuse to hide away from those who delight and jeer,
And, as a nation, let us stand and make our message clear
“We will not be defeated and you will not have your way!”
Weep for the ones who blindly go wherever their leaders say
and cry for those who plant their bombs and calmly walk away
without a thought for those who will die - and don’t forget to pray
that they will be able to face themselves when it comes to Judgement Day.

My Circle
Heads together, eyes lock,
Hearts meet,
Each filled with a longing
Oh! So sweet!
Wanting to help, to encourage,
To uplift,
Wanting to use for the best
Your gift.
Caring and sharing,
As it should be.
Here - in this energy,
Wonderful for me,
My room full of stars,
My room full of light
Words to me from Spirit
“they’re doing all right!”
Loving and giving,
Words flowing free,
Working with Spirit
It’s as it should be!!
The Smile That Lights Your Eyes
The moment that I met you
I saw, within your eyes
the look that said you were hurting,
a look you can't disguise.
I sent a thought to Spirit
"Please help me ease their pain,"
and then I felt, without a doubt,
your loved ones close again.
Your face lit up in wonder
as all their love came through;
descriptions, names and memories
of happy times with you.
Private jokes and secrets
that you would never share
but these were brought as proof to you,
to lighten your despair.
What a joy to see the smile light up your eyes,
to know that I could help you in this way
and for you to find that no one ever dies,
what a joy to see the smile light up your eyes.
You heard how they were happy,
how all their pain was gone;
dates and anniversaries,
the list went on and on.
Thrilled - I saw the change in you;
the sadness melt away.
You said, "They're here! I feel them now!"
"They're with me every day!"
What a joy to see the smile light up your eyes
to know that I can help you in this way
and for you to find that no one ever dies,
what a joy to see the smile light up your eyes.
I have no need for money.
I have no need for fame.
No need for recognition
and no need for acclaim.
The only need I have in me
is helping friends like you
and bringing comfort, healing pain
with what I know is true.
It's a joy to see the smile light up your eyes
to know that I can help you in this way
so that you will know that no one ever dies
it's a joy to see the smile light up your eyes.
It's a joy to see you smile, that is true,
and know that I can help you in this way,
and know your friends are there in all you do
and the smile that lights your eyes shines in mine too.
